The Perfect Manhattan is Found in New Jersey

Earlier this evening, completely unprompted, Sam, excitedly chirped, “I have an idea for your next blog post!” It could have been inspired by the weather, or the Giants game on tonight, but I had no reason to object! Fall is trying really hard to make an appearance in these parts, and we are cheering for it.
I am going to let Sam take it from here…
“Last night’s post was about food. In a Higgins’ house, where there is food there are drinks… and on a rainy fall night, there is nothing better than a perfectly constructed Manhattan. I like strong drinks, so keep that in mind:
Ingredients:
3 parts Makers Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky
1 part Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth
1 healthy dash of bitters per drink (I like orange bitters)
2 cocktail cherries (Luxurardo are the best) per cocktail
Combine the Makers Mark, Carpano and Bitters in a cocktail shaker over ice. Stir with a large stirring spoon until the ice starts to melt a bit.
Hers: For a drink on the rocks, add a large ice cube to the rocks glass and put 2 cherries and a bit of juice over the ice cube. Then pour the the drink over. (You will want large whiskey ice cube like the ones found here)
His: For a drink up, as I typically enjoy, take a frosted martini glass out of your freezer, and add the cherries. Pour the drink over the cherries.
Cheers!
